A Very Hungry Wolf
好餓的大野狼
Drawn by little artist
English and Traditional Chinese Bilingual Picture Book
中英雙語對照繪本
There is a Chinese idiom, 守株待兔 [shǒu zhū dài tù], which means waiting under a tree for a rabbit to die by itself. 守 [shǒu] means to stay or sit by, 株 [zhū] means the tree stump, 待 [dài] means to wait, 兔 [tù] means rabbit. This metaphor is used to mock people who wish to make gains without working and always dream of having windfalls. 守株待兔 [shǒu zhū dài tù] can also be used to refer people who are inflexible and stick to one method of doing things.
The big wolf in this story was hungry but didn’t make any effort to hunt his food. Eventually, he got some by luck but expected to use the same method to get more, and this only led him to be hungry again.

Pablo Picasso said, "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” I am always amazed by our little artists' original creations. So I started this project with my son, Osberht when he was 6 years old. This picture book was drawn by him with his wild imagination and coloured in by me. Both of us had fun with the creative process and we hope you enjoy reading it.
